Arson suspect shoots at firefighters in Lincoln Heights

LINCOLN HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES

/*Los Angeles Fire Department*/ firefighters reported to the scene of the fire on the 400 block of Solano Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said they were fired upon when they arrived. The firefighters took cover and called for help. When police arrived, they shot and wounded the suspect.

The firefighters and officers were not hurt in the incident. The suspect was taken to an area hospital, where his condition was not known.

As for the fire, it wasn't major and didn't take long to put out.

There was no word on why the suspect shot at firefighters, though it's believed he may have started the fire.

The shooting and the fire were under investigation.
