Hollywood shooting victim remembered by loved ones

LOS ANGELES

Friends and family gathered Friday night at the site of the shooting, Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street, to remember John Atterberry.

Atterberry was in his car last Friday when a gunman started firing wildly at vehicles. He was hit twice and died later at a hospital.

Atterberry was a vice president at Death Row Records and worked with stars like Brandy and the Spice Girls.

His girlfriend Sophia Holguin said Atterberry was very special.

"One of a kind," said Holguin. "He forever will be my guardian angel and a shining star in my life."

"We obviously tried our hardest to save him, and unfortunately we were unable to do so," said Ofcr. Craig Marquez.

Marquez was one of three Los Angeles police officers who took down the gunman. They were honored on Friday by /*Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa*/ and Police Chief Charlie Beck.
