OTRC: Beach Boys announce reunion to celebrate 50th anniversary

After weeks of rumors it is official: The Beach Boys are back!

The founding members of the band, Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Al Jardine, announced on December 16 they are getting back together to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The band members also announced work on a new album and a 50-date world tour which begins at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival on April 27. The three original members will be joined by David Marks, who became a part of the group in 1962, and Bruce Johnston, who joined the band in 1965.

The band is known for hit songs like "California Girls," "Good Vibrations" and "God Only Knows."

"This anniversary is special to me because I miss the boys, and it will be a thrill for me to make a new record and be on stage with them again," Wilson said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Jardine told Rolling Stone the group does intend to appear at the Grammys on February 12, hinting that there will be a "surprise."

"We'll do something really exciting. There's a lot of interest in it, which is nice. It's going to be a very big operation," Jardine said.
