Local families rejoice as troops come home

ONTARIO, Calif.

National Guard Spc. Joshua Zilliox received cheers, applause and big smiles as he returned home to Southern California after serving in Afghanistan.

"I'm home for good now. I finished my tour. I'm done," said Zilliox with a smile at Ontario International Airport

For his family, the timing couldn't be better.

"It's the best gift I could ever have," said his mother, Mary Zilliox.

The joyful scene is one being played out across American as more troops return home now that the war in Iraq is officially over.

The last remaining combat troops have now left the country.

"I feel happy for them, for sure," said Reserve Airman 1st Class Gian Dimayuga. "I'm happy the war is finally over over there and that they finally fixed up the mess that's been going on over there."

The last of the troops who are in Kuwait are scheduled to be home by Wednesday.
