OTRC: Mel Gibson's ex-wife to reportedly get half of his fortune in divorce settlement

Mel Gibson's divorce from his wife for 28 years, Robin Gibson, was finalized on Friday, December 23, and the actor's ex-wife is reportedly walking away with a big financial settlement.

As part of the settlement, the actor's ex-wife's name is being restored to Robyn Moore, according to the Associated Press. Moore filed for divorce in April 2009, just months before the actor's then-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, gave birth to a baby girl named Lucia. Gibson cited in his court filings that the couple separated in 2006.

The 55-year-old and his former wife have seven children together, but their 12-year-old son is the only minor.

The financial settlement of the divorce reportedly leaves Robyn Gibson with half of the actor's estimated $850 million fortune, according to People magazine. The couple did not have a prenuptial agreement and, according to the magazine, 55-year-old Moore is entitled to half of everything he earned over the course of their marriage. That sum includes his estimated assets like the $600 million earned by "The Passion of the Christ" and several real estate investments.

The magazine also states that Moore is also entitled to half of every future check the actor earns for the rest of his life.

In August, Gibson was ordered to pay ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva $750,000, and allow her and their infant daughter to remain in a home he owns, as part of a custody deal.

The actor and Grigorieva, a 41-year-old musician, reached the agreement after battling in court for months.

Gibson was also ordered to provide for their daughter the same amount of funds allocated in his will to his other seven children with Moore. Moore came to the actor's defense during the trial after filing a brief declaration stating that Gibson had never physically abused her or their children.

In May, Grigorieva dropped a domestic violence claim that she had submitted against the actor amid their custody battle. It stemmed from a January 2010 confrontation. The incident spurred the leak of a widely-publicized racist, sexist and misogynistic rant said to have been made by the actor to Grigorieva over the phone, as well as leaked photos of her with bruises.

Gibson was charged with misdemeanor battery and made a plea deal over the matter in March.

He was sentenced to informal probation for 36 months, 16 hours of community service with Mending Kids International, a 53-week domestic violence program, continued mental health counseling and a $400 domestic violence fine. If he violates his probation, Gibson could face up to a year in prison.

The judge said the actor's and Grigorieva's custody deal could be canceled if she discusses it in the press and also said no books or articles can be authorized or written by a ghostwriter about the couple's relationship.

In November, Gibson's spokesperson denied a report that says the actor may have fathered a child with a former reality star.
