Jenny McCarthy returns as 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' host

December 30, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
Jenny McCarthy is returning to "New Year's Rockin' Eve" for her second year. Once again she'll be in New York's Times Square, stationed with fans in the middle of all the madness.

She is excited she's once again to be a part of a New Year's Eve tradition.

"I grew up watching 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' on ABC and going, 'wow, maybe someday I could be there," said McCarthy. "It's one of the most amazing experiences. It's a bucket list thing to do. I never thought I would freeze my butt down there, but that Times Square, that energy, it's electric."

And for those of you who forgot, a kiss was being teased all last year. So will she be pulling that again?

"Well I am single, wink wink," said McCarthy. "It was really good material, I'll tell you. We'll be there five hours this year so who knows who I might pull out of the crowd and find a cute guy to kiss."

To celebrate the show's long tradition McCarthy, along with pop star Fergie, will host "New Year's Rockin' Eve: The 40th Anniversary Party" featuring memorable moments from the past.

"You're going to look at some of these clips and go, 'oh my God, I remember when I was with my mom and dad watching,' specific moments that will bring you back to that time," said McCarthy. "So it'll be a great show to watch this year because of that reason. And we'll have surprises, of course, being a 40-year anniversary."

Dick Clark will be back to count us down once again, with Ryan Seacrest overseeing the evening. And McCarthy will be there to add a little extra fun.

"I remember looking, going, 'they're freezing, they're crazy, the couch is the greatest place ever,'" said McCarthy. "So if you're not coming to Times Square, I highly recommend staying home on that couch and watching."

All the fun begins Saturday at 8 p.m. with the 40th Anniversary Show. Then at 10 p.m. it's "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012."

There's a break for ABC7 Eyewitness News at 11 p.m. Then "Rockin' Eve" continues again at 11:30 p.m. to ring in the New Year.
