After starring in a film all about a wedding, Chris O'Dowd is going to have to plan his own.
The comedic actor, who starred as Kristen Wiig's love interest Officer Rhodes in "Bridesmaids," announced his engagement on Twitter to British TV personality Dawn Porter.
"I'm so bored of all this happiness and sex. I'm getting married. #engaged," the 32-year-old actor Tweeted on December 29.
After getting some positive feedback from his followers the actor wrote, "Aw, thanks for all the congrats guys. Feelin the Twitter love today. Very happy & lucky boy. #engaged"
Porter, 32, took to her own Twitter page to announce the news. "I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it #engaged," she wrote, quoting the Beyonce song "Single Ladies."
According to Us Weekly, the actor popped the question on December 26 while the two were on vacation on an island in the English Channel. He also skipped the traditional diamond ring for an emerald stone.
"The ring is gorgeous -- an emerald, as he is Irish, and green to replace a green ring of my mum's that I have worn on that hand since I was 16," Porter reportedly told a local newspaper according to the magazine.
The Irish actor broke out in a big way this year with his "Bridesmaids" role but is also known for the British sitcom "The IT Crowd." O'Dowd also appeared in "Gulliver's Travels" with Jack Black, Emily Blunt and Jason Segel in 2010.
