Rose Parade floats' final push before judging

PASADENA, Calif.

The final push is on because Sunday is the day for judging. About 1,400 hundred volunteers have been at the Pasadena location, working in two shifts to create the floral masterpieces.

The material on the floats is all from natural sources. The Bear Float with an astronaut has 20,000 roses- the average float is between 6,000 and 7,000 flowers.

You can expect to see floats with elaborate animation, as well as some with rare and expensive blossoms. One creation has orchids so special it cost $10 a stem.

The float that will conclude the show will honor Roy Rogers' 100th birthday.

"This is great," said Roy Rogers Jr. "We often think about our parents as just great people. But mom and dad were heroes to millions of little kids worldwide. And for them to do this tribute to my father, it's a great thing."

Rogers Jr. said he will have his son riding with him.

The theme to the 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade is "Just Imagine." You can watch the parade on Monday.
