As it turns out, his resolution was a success.
Marcel Williams works for the city of Winnipeg's only hip-hop station.
He says his new year's resolution started as a stunt, but in the end, he says it changed his life.
"It's help me understand the value of saving yourself for somebody else," said Williams.
Williams became known as Marcel 'No Sex' Williams."
As many as 630,000 people have followed his progress on a website, complete with a countdown clock.
"A lot of people think I'm just going to be lined up on New Year's Eve outside of some nightclub just prowling on women but that's not the case at all," said Williams.
