The Las Vegas Hilton is changing its name, ending a 40-year reign with the familiar title.
On Tuesday, it officially becomes the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.
The hotel's contract with Hilton ended in January 2012, but neither Hilton or hotel owner Colony Capital LLC commented on why a new contract was not created.
The hotel originally opened as The International Hotel in 1969. It became the Hilton in 1971.
