Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling reportedly took a big leap in their relationship in 2012: Meeting the parents.

Mendes met up with Gosling and his mother Donna on January 1, in Manhattan, reports People magazine. The three went to the movies together.

An unnamed source told the magazine "Ryan and Eva seemed very happy."

Mendes and Gosling flew out to New York City together from Los Angeles and onlookers saw Mendes and Gosling getting close shortly after a New Year's Eve party at Manhattan's Bowery Hotel.

"While they waited for a cab outside the hotel, they kept kissing," a witness told the magazine.

The alleged couple was first seen together on a date to Disneyland in September.

Mendes and Gosling were also spotted getting close in Paris in November. After dining on Argentinean food, the couple took a tour of the historic Catacombs of Paris, which houses the skeletal remains of roughly six million Parisians.

In December, the actors appeared in a FunnyOrDie.com clip called titled "Drunk History Christmas." They played a couple and mouth the words of comedian Allan McLeod as he recites the 1823 poem "The Night Before Christmas" while intoxicated.

Gosling, 31, and Mendes, 37, recently filmed "The Place Beyond the Pines" together. The film also features Rose Byrne, Greta Gerwig and Bradley Cooper.

Between 2005 and 2007, Gosling dated Rachel McAdams, his co-star in "The Notebook." He has also been romantically linked to Sandra Bullock and Kristen Dunst.

Mendes is best known for her roles in "Hitch," "2 Fast 2 Furious" and "The Other Guys." The actress recently ended her long-term relationship with producer George Gargurevich.

In 2011, Gosling appeared in the romantic comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love" opposite Emma Stone, "The Ides of March" opposite George Clooney and in "Drive" with Carey Mulligan. He has also appeared in films like "Half Nelson" and "Blue Valentine."
