Billy Crystal has made his debut as the 2012 Oscar host, appearing in a star-studded promotional video which premiered on Thursday.

In the promo, Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel are taxed with searching down the Oscar host in the "furthest location on earth," in what seems like a trailer for a big-budget action film. Robin Williams, Vinnie Jones and William Fichtner also make cameos in the video, which is titled "Off the Grid."

It was announced in November that Crystal would return to host the 84th annual Academy Awards.

"Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show," Crystal wrote on his official Twitter page. The Tweet was later ReTweeted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' official Twitter account.

He replaced Eddie Murphy, who stepped down as host of the ceremony, following the departure of director Brett Ratner as a producer of the awards show.

It will be the ninth time for Crystal as host of the ceremony. Only Bob Hope has hosted more Academy Awards presentations, with 19 ceremonies between 1940 and 1978. Crystal last hosted the Academy Awards in 2004.

Brian Grazer was named as a replacement producer for Ratner, who left the position after stirring controversy for using a gay slur during a screening of his film "Tower Heist" and discussing his sex life in media interviews. Grazer will join Don Mischer as a producer of the 84th Academy Awards. This will be the first time Grazer has produced the Oscar telecast.

"Like so many others, I've been eager to see Billy host again. It's very gratifying that he agreed to do it with Don and me at the helm," Grazer said in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com.

"Some of the best moments of my career have happened on the Oscar stage. I am thrilled to be back there," Crystal said.

The awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company.
