Man brandishing sawed-off shotgun shot by officers in South LA

LAPD gang enforcement officers shot a man, who was brandishing a sawed-off shotgun near the intersection of Hoover Street and Vernon Avenue in South Los Angeles

Authorities said they tried to stop a vehicle with Texas plates for a traffic violation at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

A man then got out of the car with the firearm. Police shot the man several times.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Police arrested two other people who were inside the vehicle. No officers were injured in the shooting.

The shooting was under investigation.
