Tiny dog survives avalanche that killed owner

BOZEMAN, Mont.

The Montana family presumed the dog had died in the avalanche that killed a man and injured his wife as they skied.

Somehow, Ole the corgi trekked out over rough terrain in the cold and snow.

He made it back to the motel where the family had been staying. They'd already returned home and were shocked by a phone call from the motel owner.

"The first message that we got was that 'We found Ole,' and we were sad because we thought that finding Ole meant finding his body. And then they added, 'He's alive,' and it was just the most amazing experience," said the avalanche victim's stepdaughter, Silver Brelsford.

The motel owner said he noticed the small dog just sitting outside the motel, and he knew there was no one in town that had a corgi.
