Man plants firebomb at Seattle ATM machine

SEATTLE

Witnesses noticed the suspicious package at around 6:30 a.m., which was left inside a foyer at a Chase bank, and notified authorities. They said the device had two clear bottles, a lighter in the middle and was wrapped in tape and wires.

Police said a bomb squad used a robot to render the device safe.

Surveillance images show the suspect at the ATM machine at 3:16 a.m. Police are treating the investigation as attempted arson.

Authorities said a previous suspicious fire damaged an ATM at a Bank of America branch in November in the Madison Park area of Seattle. It is unclear is the two are related.
