Crews clean up 20 acre Hesperia brush fire

HESPERIA, Calif.

Some 20 acres burned before firefighters were able to fully contain the fire.

About a dozen homes were in the path of the fire at one point. San Bernardino County and Cal Fire crews responded immediately with air and ground resources, fearing the strong gusts would quickly spread the flames.

"The wind did shift a little bit and the fire ended up going in a south to southwesterly direction away from the structures, so that was definitely good news," said San Bernardino County Fire spokeswoman Tracey Martinez. "If the fire would have kept in the direction it originally started there was probably about 10 to 15 homes threatened."

Firefighters are still on the scene mopping up hot spots and making sure the fire doesn't spark up again.
