Actress Jennifer Lawrence has been chosen to join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak to announce the nominees for the 84th Academy Awards, the organization behind the awards ceremony says.
The official announcements for the nominees will take place on January 24. Lawrence and Sherak will unveil the nominations in 10 of the 24 categories at a 5:30 a.m. PT news conference at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Lawrence, 21, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2011 for her work in "Winter's Bone." Up next she will be seen in the highly anticipated film "The Hunger Games," based on a Young Adult novel by the same name.
Lawrence plays Katniss Everdeen, a young girl who lives in the post-apocalyptic North America, which is now called Panem. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event put on by the government in Capitol city, where a boy and a girl from each district fight to the death.
The film adaptation of the popular novel by Suzanne Collins will hit theaters on March 23, 2012.
Lawrence also recently completed work on "The Silver Linings Playbook." Her other film credits include "The Burning Plain," "Like Crazy," "The Beaver" and "X-Men: First Class."
In the promo, Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel are taxed with searching down the Oscar host in the "furthest location on earth," in what seems like a trailer for a big-budget action film. Robin Williams, Vinnie Jones and William Fichtner also make cameos in the video, which is titled "Off the Grid."
It was announced in November that Crystal would return to host the 84th annual Academy Awards.
