Crews battle Rancho Palos Verdes brush fire

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif.

The fire was first reported about 7 p.m. in a canyon south of Rolling Hills Estates.

No homes were threatened.

About 200 firefighters, assisted by two helicopters, battled the blaze.

"This fire was burning downhill, which is less of a threat because it's moving slower than it would be if it was moving uphill being pushed by Santa Ana winds," said Los Angeles County fire Inspector Don Kunitomi.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
