The reserve Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy who arrested the Hollywood arson suspect was honored in downtown L.A. on Tuesday.

The County Board of Supervisors issued a proclamation thanking Shervin Lalezary for his skillful work that may have saved lives.

Lalezary spotted Harry Burkhart in Hollywood after recognizing him from surveillance video.

Lalezary is an Iranian immigrant who volunteers as a reserve for the salary of $1 a year. One supervisor joked that the county is more than willing to double his salary.
