No charges for principal accused of lewd acts

WHITTIER, Calif.

Daniel Weston, 47, was arrested Tuesday at West Covina Hills Adventist School, where he is the current principal. The allegations came from his time at another school.

Whittier police said he was taken into custody for lewd acts with a female student under the age of 14. The alleged crime happened four years ago when Weston was the principal at Whittier Adventist Elementary School on Calmada Avenue. He was the principal there for seven years.

Even after his arrest, some parents at West Covina Hills Adventist School said supported their children's principal.

"I trust the school 100 percent. I've been a member of this church for years, and I have faith in the principal," said parent Isabelle York.

The D.A.'s office said on Wednesday that the charges would be dropped, and Weston was expected to be freed later in the day.
