Newport sting nets pot, plants, suspects, cash

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.

Detectives served search warrants obtained after a month-long investigation, according to police. Warrants were served in Newport Beach, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest and Huntington Beach.

Five people were arrested, 300 marijuana plants and 37 pounds of marijuana were seized, in addition to $24,000 cash. Police said the seized marijuana has an estimated street value of approximately $200,000.

San Clemente resident Anthony Mave, 46, was arrested near Newport Blvd. and 16th St. with 24 pounds of marijuana in his possession.

Laguna Niguel resident Christopher Go, 24, was arrested at a residence in Laguna Niguel where police found a complex indoor marijuana-growing operation inside. Three hundred plants were seized there, as well as cash.

Laguna Niguel resident Christy McAllister, 61, was arrested in Lake Forest after allegedly selling marijuana to an undercover Newport Beach police detective.

A search warrant served at a commercial building in Huntington Beach netted two more arrests and the discovery of another marijuana-growing operation and 9 pounds of pot. Huntington Beach residents Daniel Wooten, 36, and Trayci Tursack, 34, were arrested at the scene.
