Even though Courteney Cox and David Arquette's marriage didn't work out, the "Cougar Town" actress still considers her estranged husband to be her "best friend."
"He's my favorite person in the world," Cox told People magazine. "He's my best friend. No matter what happens in our future, he's my very best friend."
The couple announced in October 2010 that they had agreed to a trial separation. The couple met on the set of the 1996 horror film "Scream." Arquette, 39, and Cox, 46, married in June 1999 and have a daughter named Coco.
Cox, who rose to fame on "Friends" and currently appears in ABC's "Cougar Town" said that she and Arquette used their new friendship to collaborate on a project.
"We sold one show, 'Ten Year,' about a couple who separated after 10 years of marriage. It's not really about David and me, but it's something we related to and we thought we should tell a story about people who could actually get along after being separated. It's telling a different version."
In January 2011, Arquette completed rehabilitation for alcohol abuse and depression, following the couple's separation. Arquette celebrated a year of sobriety with Cox.
In April, Arquette said on the X-rated "The Howard Stern Show" on Sirius XM satellite radio that he tried to seduce Cox at Disney World.
"It was like we were eighth graders, seventh graders," Arquette said about his attempted seduction. "It was great. I didn't push her too hard. She's got better boundaries than I do.
Cox addressed the issue on "The Late Show with David Letterman," saying: "He did try to hit on me. He hit pretty hard and I said, you don't have the Fast Pass right now. Not for that ride!"
The pair recently appeared in "Scream 4" together and looked friendly during the press tour.
Arquette appeared on the recent 13th season of ABC's reality dancing competition "Dancing With The Stars." He and his partner Kym Johnson were eliminated in the seventh week, on November 1, 2011. War veteran and actor J.R. Martinez went on to win the mirror ball trophy.
He was romantically linked to "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis' ex-wife Christina McLarty in September and told Howard Stern that he is "not one to run around with different girls."
