Katy Perry is entering the world of "The Sims."
The singer and Electronic Arts, the company behind "The Sims," announced "an exclusive creative collaboration" between Perry and "The Sims" franchise on January 17.
The two plan on developing games within the franchise with Katy Perry themed in-game content and online goods.
The first project within the agreement is the collector's edition for "The Sims 3 Showtime," which will hit stores in March 2012. A trailer for the game can be seen below. Perry will also be featured in the advertising and marketing campaigns for the brand.
"I love how you're able to play out different stories through your Sims characters - giving them different careers and watching them succeed," Perry said in a Statement. "It's cool to see the Sims' stage performances in "The Sims 3 Showtime" decked out just like my California Dreams Tour-- even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I'm a Sim!"
The singer will also work to create accessories, clothing, hairstyles and furniture in the props for the games which enables users to create their own characters and environments. Perry's music will also be featured in games and ads for the franchise.
The singer recently split from husband Russell Brand.
The 36-year-old comedian cited "irreconcilable differences" in the documents, which were filed in a Los Angeles Superior Court on December 30. The couple had no children together.
Brand issued a statement the day he filed for divorce from his wife of 14 months, telling the Associated Press, "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."
Perry, 27, and Brand were married on October 23, 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Rajasthan, India, where Brand also proposed to the singer. The two began dating in September 2009 after the singer performed on the MTV Video Music Awards that were hosted by Brand.
