A male suspect was shot shortly after 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Anaheim Police Department east substation at Santa Ana Canyon and Weir Canyon roads.
The suspect appeared to be carrying a knife. A bible and a knife were found near his body.
The incident was under investigation. Anaheim Police did not release further details of the shooting Thursday afternoon.
The officer was not injured.
