Sentencing delayed for ex-NFL player in OC murder case

SANTA ANA, Calif.

Former NFL linebacker Andrew Naposki was convicted of killing wealthy Southern California businessman Bill McLaughlin back in 1994.

His sentencing Friday was delayed because more paper work was filed.

Prosecutors say Naposki carried out the crime at the urging of his then-girlfriend Nanette Packard McNeal. She was living with McLaughlin, and prosecutors say she wanted to cash in on his life insurance policy.

Packard McNeal is also charged with murder.

Deliberations in her case resume on Monday.
