Despite the intense fight scenes featured in "Haywire" actor Ewan McGregor said he only suffered one injury on set.
"The only time I got hurt was when I punched Gina Carano in the head by accident," the actor told E! News. "I had a series of three punches, but the third one...for one reason or another I connected really hard on the side of her head."
Carano is known as a mixed martial arts fighter and "Haywire," directed by Steven Soderbergh, marks her second acting role. She plays Mallory Kane in the film, a freelance covert operative who is betrayed by a person who works for her agency and seeks revenge, while assassins are sent to kill her.
"She was the one who got straight up and said, 'Are you OK?' She was asking me if I was OK! But she was right because I almost broke my friggin' hand," McGregor told the site. "She was absolutely fine."
"Haywire" also stars Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton. It is the second and biggest film for Carano, a 29-year-old Texas native, who also appeared on the reboot of the show "American Gladiators."
Tatum also plays an agent, while McGregor plays her character's point man. Fassbender portrays an operative who accompanies her on a mission. Paxton, formerly of "Big Love" fame," plays her father, and Douglas and Banderas play her bosses.
Carano told OnTheRedCarpet.com that she was a little nervous to kiss Tatum in the film.
"I think he probably felt my heart beat through my mouth," she said. "I've never been ordered to kiss someone in front of people and it's all quiet and the camera's right there and you're like, 'I hope people consider me a decent kisser, 'cause that's going to be on film forever.'"
"Haywire" hit theaters on January 20. Check out the trailer for the film below.
