2 shot during Long Beach neighbor dispute; gunmen at large

LONG BEACH, Calif.

Authorities thought the suspects were barricaded inside a 10-unit apartment complex on the 100 block of Plymouth Street, but when a SWAT team entered the building, they did not find the men.

The incident started Thursday night when police responded to a call about a fight between neighbors. Officials said they dealt with that situation and left the area. They were called back around midnight after the shooting occurred.

Police said the gunmen shot a man and a woman in the middle of the street in front of several witnesses.

The victims were taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

About 30 to 40 people had to be evacuated as police searched for the suspects. They were expected to be allowed back in the building around 7 a.m.

Investigators did not immediately have suspect descriptions.
