1 acre burned in wind-whipped La Canada fire

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif.

The fire was caused by a tree that knocked down a power line. Crews quickly contained the blaze before it could spread to nearby homes.

"They put it out really, really quick," said resident Lydia Valenta. "It was amazing. The winds flared up quick, but they put it out."

Windy and dry weather is a concern for Foothill residents, who faced fires and mudslides caused by similar weather a couple years ago.

Despite the increased fire danger, residents are confident in the fire crews. However, with wind expected to continue into Saturday, residents are remaining alert to the danger.
