OTRC: Directors Guild Awards 2012: Full list of winners

"The Artist" director Michel Hazanavicius walked away with top honors from the Directors Guild of America on January 28 at the group's annual award ceremony.

"I really love directors. I really have respect for directors. So this is really very moving and touching for me," Hazanavicius said after accepting the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement In Feature Film, according to the Associated Press.

Hazanavicius, a first time nominee, won over a field of experienced favorites that included past winners Martin Scorsese for "Hugo" and Woody Allen for "Midnight in Paris," David Fincher for "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and Alexander Payne for "The Descendants."

The Directors Guild honors are one of the most-accurate forecasts for who will take home the big prize for Best Director and more often than not, whichever film earns the directing Oscar also wins best picture.

The Oscars will air live on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company. Get ready for OSCAR SUNDAY starting now on Oscar.com.
