Carwash held to honor man killed in robbery

CUDHAY, Calif.

Loved ones got their hands soapy and wet in Cudahy to help raise money for the funeral of 29-year-old Israel Macias.

Macias died Wednesday and is survived by his wife and two young sons. Macias's wife, Mayte Salas, said she did not recognize the robbers but she did see her husband being shot.

"It was horrible you know we just saw him trying to save his family, he was a very brave man to give his life for his family," said Salas.

Investigators say three men kicked in the door of Macias's home on Elm Vista Drive late Monday night. A fight then broke out which spread to the front yard, where one of the men shot Macias in the head.

He died two days later. The search continues for all three robbers.
