Matthew Broderick paid homage to his iconic role from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" in a Super Bowl XLVI commercial for Honda.

In the commercial, which is set to air during the Super Bowl game between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots on February 5, the 49-year-old actor is shown wearing a bathrobe and asking: "How can I handle work on a day like today?" He pretends to be sick to avoid filming a role and goes on an adventure around Los Angeles, California.

In the 1986 comedy, popular and charismatic high school kid Ferris Bueller (Broderick) decides to pretend he's sick to ditch classes for a day so he can take his girlfriend Sloane (Sara) and best friend Cameron (Ruck) on a joyride around town in Cameron's father's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT. Jennifer Gray plays Bueller's jealous sister Jeanie.

In the Super Bowl commercial, Broderick takes his Honda CR-V to the Santa Monica piers, the Natural History Museum, the beach, horse tracks and China Town, where he jumps on a parade float to sing in Chinese. The actor finally arrives at the fictional "Chez Neuf" restaurant, where the valet driver takes his vehicle on a joy ride.

The ad mirrors several iconic scenes from the original film and includes Yello's song, "Oh Yeah," which was heavily featured in the comedy.

The car blog Jaloplik reported that the video was directed by "The Hangover" writer/director Todd Phillips.

A 15-second teaser for the commercial was released last week, but didn't reveal what it was advertising. The car company previewed the commercial on Monday.
