Michelle Obama promotes 'Let's Move!' campaign in Southland

LOS ANGELES

She'll be appearing on talk shows to promote her "Let's Move!" initiative and will be speaking at two Democratic National Committee fundraisers.

On Wednesday, she'll also visit the site of future supermarket Northgate Gonzales Market in Inglewood to promote her efforts to provide healthier food options in traditionally underserved areas.

The market is a product of the California FreshWorks Fund, which has raised $200 million to invest in bringing grocery stores and other forms of healthy food retailers to underserved communities.

FreshWorks has committed $20 million in financing to Northgate for its first three projects, which are in Inglewood, South Los Angeles and San Diego.

"Let's Move!" which will observe its second anniversary on Feb. 9, is dedicated to solving the problem of obesity within a generation.
