One of the largest asteroids in our solar system will make its closest pass to Earth in 37 years on Tuesday night.

Eros poses no threat of hitting us, but the rock is about as large as an aircraft carrier. It's expected to come within 16.6 million miles of our planet.

The asteroid will be visible even with modest telescopes and should remain visible through Feb. 10.

It won't come this close again until the year 2056.
