A publicist for the Carter family confirmed the death in a statement, but provided no details Wednesday on where or how she died.
"Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time," the statement read.
The 25-year-old's single "Like Wow" was on the soundtrack for "Shrek" in 2001. In 2006, she appeared in all eight episodes of the reality show "House of Carters."
