Los Angeles city firefighters freed a man from his crumpled car Sunday morning after they say he sped across a parking lot, hit several parked cars and crashed into a garage.

The incident took place near 2nd and Edgemont streets at about 1:30 a.m.

The man's car rolled over onto its side before coming to a complete stop.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut the man out of his car and had to pull him through one of the walls in the garage.

"I was inside my house, and it sounded like it was raining. It sounded like something had dropped from a building, but I didn't even imagine it would be this," described the woman who lives in the house involved in the crash.

The man sustained moderate injuries. It wasn't clear what caused him to lose control.
