Chris Brown will perform at this year's Grammy Awards three years after his assault case.

Brown has not attended the Grammys since assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna after a pre-Grammy party in 2009. Brown, who's currently serving five years of probation for the attack, will be performing at Sunday's event at Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Recording Academy, which votes on the Grammy winners, said in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Tuesday, February 7.

Brown will be joined on stage by deadmau5, Foo Fighters, David Guetta and Lil Wayne for a "special performance highlighting dance/electronica music," that has never been seen before at a Grammys ceremony.

Rihanna, who is up for four individual awards, will also perform at the show. The two were supposed to perform at the 2009 Grammys, but they ended up not attending the event.

Brown's reputation took a hit after the assault case, but he has since bounced back with the release of his album, "F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies)," which is nominated for three Grammys, including best R&B album.

His song "Look at Me Now," featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, is up for best rap song and best rap performance.

The 2012 Grammy Awards ceremony is set to take place on Feb. 12, 2012 and airs live on CBS that day at 8 p.m. ET. Check out the list of nominees.
