Innocent victim dies in alleged Boyle Heights street racing crash

BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES

Police say the suspects' car burst into flames after slamming into another car, killing the driver of that vehicle. The suspects had already ran away before the car caught fire.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Erika Flores. Fire fighters had to extricate Flores from her car.

The crash came after police say it appeared that one car was chasing another on the five freeway after three this morning.

Police say the cars exited the freeway at 4th Street in Boyle Heights and one of the cars "T-boned" the vehicle Flores was driving at the intersection of 4th and Boyle. Flores was in an innocent victim who had nothing to do with the apparent chase.

Police say two suspects in the alleged speeding car fled the scene but were later arrested. They say they are looking for a third suspect.

The crash remains under investigation.
