Candlelight vigil held for 3-year-old killed in Anaheim hit-run

ANAHEIM, Calif.

Friends and family gathered on Gilbert Street, where Miranda Palacios and her mother, 26-year-old Augi Hernandez, were struck while crossing the street Wednesday.

Hernandez was hospitalized with serious injuries, including a broken back. Her family hopes someone will lead police to the driver.

"I don't understand why this person thinks that he's just going to be able to live his life and disregard what happened here. He will be found," said Kim Kirby, Hernandez's mother.

The speeding car had been reported stolen minutes before the crash. The 1995 Nissan Maxima was found abandoned nearby, but the driver got away.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the California Highway Patrol at (800) TELL-CHP.
