'Oscars Red Carpet Live' hosts announced

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.

Robin Roberts, Tim Gunn, Louise Roe, Jess Cagle and Nina Garcia will run the show during the only broadcast from the red carpet.

Roe and Garcia's are first time hosts at the Oscars red carpet show. This will be the third stints for Roberts, Gunn and Cagle.

"We couldn't be more excited to be working with this red carpet team," said pre-show producers Charlie Haykel and Julian Hare. "Each brings something unique and different that will contribute to the show's overall dynamic and creative direction."

Roberts is co-anchor of ABC's "Good Morning America" and has traveled the globe extensively. The news anchor and journalist will be conducting interviews with celebrities from the main pre-show stage on Oscar Night.

Gunn is chief creative officer at Liz Claiborne Inc. and currently stars in the ABC Network's new daytime talk show, "The Revolution." He will interview celebrities and share red carpet fashion commentary with fellow "Runway" castmate Garcia, who is the fashion director for Marie Claire and is also well known for her role on "Project Runway."

Roe is the fashion editor-at-large for Glamour and hosts her own makeover show, "Plain Jane," on MTV International. Roe also hosted E!'s coverage of the Royal Wedding last April. Roe will interview celebrity guests as they arrive on the red carpet for the evening's festivities.

Cagle is editor of Entertainment Weekly is a frequent television commentator. Cagle will be stationed backstage where he will conduct exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews as the 84th Academy Awards unfolds.

Oscar.com also hosts the official Oscar blog, which will feature red carpet fashion trends and tips from chef and lifestyle experts for hosting the best Oscar party.

Leading up to the ceremony, "On The Red Carpet" co-host Rachel Smith will be doing interviews with hair and fashion stylists and makeup artists for the "Best Dressed" video series featured on Oscar.com, beginning on Feb. 11. Smith will also be covering live events and offering post-show analysis of Oscar night fashions for the site.

The site also has a social media page, Oscar Buzz, which tracks comments from fans using #Oscars and #OscarBuzz.

It was announced in November, that Billy Crystal would return to host the 84th annual Academy Awards.

The awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 on ABC7. Coverage begins at noon PT.
