Songwriter Siedah Garrett returns to Oscars for 'Rio'

LOS ANGELES

"I'm shaking. I'm pleased as punch," she said.

In 2007, Garrett was nominated for the song "Love You I Do" from the movie "Dreamgirls." This year, she's nominated alongside Sergio Mendes for the song "Real in Rio" from the animated musical "Rio."

"The fact that I did this with my friend Sergio Mendes, his first Oscar nomination, I'm just so proud," she said. "It's a great song on its own, it's a great song. And it makes you feel happy."

As of right now, we will not be hearing the two Oscar nominated songs performed at the ceremony. Garrett takes it all in stride.

"I'm OK with just being called up on stage to receive my award," she joked.

Garrett promised that if she does happen to win on Oscar Sunday, she won't be doing "the list."

"If I don't sit in my chair, shake and scream, then I'll quietly, elegantly walk up and accept my award," she said.

Meanwhile, Garrett is already working on "Rio 2."
