Kodak Theatre, Oscar home, getting new name

LOS ANGELES

Eastman Kodak Co. received court approval on Wednesday to end its sponsorship deal for the Hollywood theater.

Kodak signed a $74 million deal for naming rights to the theater in 2000.

However, the struggling photography company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month.

The owner of the theater is declining to comment on the decision or the future of the theater's name.

The theater's name will be changed, but it's not clear whether that will happen before the Academy Awards, which airs live on Sunday, Feb. 26 on ABC7. Coverage begins at noon PT.
