The incident happened just before 3 p.m. Saturday when members of the Riverside police SWAT team tried to apprehend a man.
He was riding a bike along the 5600 block of Harold Street.
Authorities said 38-year-old Danny Bond was wanted for felony domestic violence.
At some point, Bond reportedly pulled out a gun. That's when officers opened fire and killed him.
Police recovered Bond's weapon at the scene.
No one else was hurt.
