A family spokesman said Smart and Matthew Gilmour were married in a private ceremony in Honolulu at the Laie Hawaii Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in front of a small group of family members
The now 24-year-old met her Scottish husband on a mission trip in France.
Smart made headlines when she was kidnapped at knifepoint from her Salt Lake home at age 14 and held captive for nine months.
Her abductor, Brian David Mitchell, is serving life in prison for the kidnapping and sexual assault.
