A 73-year-old nun who kissed Elvis Presley will join the likes of Meryl Streep, Viola Davis and other stars set to walk the red carpet at the 2012 Academy Awards on Sunday.

Mother Dolores Hart is not a nominee but she is the subject of the short film "God Is The Bigger Elvis," which received an Oscar nod for Documentary Short.

The filmmakers have confirmed she will walk the red carpet in her traditional habit and join the other celebrities as they are ushered into the Hollywood & Highland Center, formerly known as the Kodak Theatre, to attend the ceremony, the Associated Press reported.

Hart is a former actress, as were her parents, and is a voting member of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She starred with Elvis Presley in the 1957 film "Loving You," which saw him playing a rising country singer. The two lock lips in the film, although he also kisses other women. It is unclear which scenes were filmed first. Some says her kiss marked the late singer's first on-screen smooch.

"My ears start getting purple and even his ears started getting purple," Hart said on the ABC show "20/20" in 2002, when asked about kissing Presley.

"While director Hal Kanter just screamed and he said, 'Halt! Hold everything' and they brought everybody over to brush our ears down with paint or whatever it is," she said. "They finally got the kiss done. If there is anything that I am most grateful for it's the privilege of being one of the few persons left to acknowledge his innocence."

She also appeared with the late singer in the 1958 movie "King Creole." Hart's last film, "Come Fly With Me," was released in 1963. That year, she left Hollywood to join a monastery. She attended previous Academy Award ceremonies three times before she became a Benedictine nun, the Associated Press said. She now serves as the Prioress of the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, Connecticut.

"Once you have decided to become a public figure, you've made an agreement with your audience and it's a lifetime agreement," she told "20/20." "Even if you pull away, there is a part of you that you can't just say, you no longer belong. You do."
