Are Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied married?
The couple appeared on the red carpet of the Oscars on February 26 wearing rings, which can be seen above, on their left ring fingers, where wedding rings are usually worn. However, Portman's spokesperson had no immediate comment when asked if the Academy Award-winning actress was married.
Portman, 30, and Millepied, 34, have been linked together as early as late 2009 and met while filming "Black Swan." Portman won an Academy Award in February for her performance in the film.
The couple announced their engagement and Portman's pregnancy in December 2010. Portman gave birth to a baby boy, named Aleph in June 2011. The baby weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces.
People magazine reports that jeweler Jamie Wolf confirmed that she designed the "wedding rings." Wolf designed a ring for Portman to fit on either side of her engagement ring, seen above. Millepied is reportedly wearing a wedding band made out of platinum. The rings are also eco-friendly, made with recycled materials and conflict-free diamonds.
Millepied was born in France and has danced as the principal dancer with the New York City Ballet. He has choreographed several productions and was one of the choreographers of "Black Swan". Last year, he was made a Chevalier, or knight, in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture.
The actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com in April during a press junket for "Your Highness" that she and Millepied are "engaged and we will make it known when we do get married."
Portman and Millepied joined other celebrities in signing Freedom to Marry's "I Do" open letter calling on President Barack Obama to support gay marriage.
