Sheriff's deputies are searching for two carjackers who left their victim for dead in the desert near 180th Street and Avenue M on Monday.

The victim is a 24-year-old Palmdale man. A passer-by found him shortly after 12 p.m.

Firefighters said they found the man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was still conscious and breathing and was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment. It's not clear how long he was out there in the desert, or when he was carjacked.

The victim is stable and is expected to survive. Detectives believe the two carjackers may be driving the victim's charcoal gray, four-door 2010 Toyota Camry, license plate 6JPX870.

Anyone with information should call the Lancaster Sheriff's Station at (661) 948-8466.
