Gunfire erupts at Calabasas mobile home park

CALABASAS, Calif.

Authorities say the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute between a man and his mother's boyfriend. The incident happened at 7:17 a.m. on the 23000 block of Mulholland Highway.

"I heard the one guy say he's got a gun, and then I heard the shot," said witness Debbie Nierenberg. "I thought it was a fake until I saw that much blood coming out, and then he dropped and there was blood all over."

Both the suspect and the victim lived in a mobile home with the suspect's mother. Neighbors say the two had a very volatile relationship, and some say they're not surprised the way the latest altercation ended.

"I think what happened this morning, he just snapped," Nierenberg said. She identified the victim as Tony and the man in custody as Randy. She said both men are in their 50s.

Deputies say they live with Randy's mother, and the fight started inside the home. Authorities are still sorting out what charges will be filed. They say only one shot was fired, and the gun it came from has been recovered.
