Trisha Yearwood, Grammy-winning country singer and best-selling cookbook author has landed her own Food Network series.
"For me, cooking is very connected to my family and friends," Yearwood said in a statement on her official website. "Every recipe on the show carries wonderful memories with my loved ones and I can't wait to share my meals, stories and family photos with Food Network viewers."
The daytime show is set to air six episodes in the spring and will be called, "Trisha's Southern Kitchen." The first episode will premiere on Saturday, April 14th at 10:30 a.m. ET/PT.
According to a press release, "Trisha's Southern Kitchen" will invite fans into the singer's kitchen to see Yearwood make her favorite meals, share nostalgic stories and get visits from family and friends.
"Trisha's best known as a music legend, but her talents don't stop there," Bob Tuschman, General Manager and Senior Vice President Programming, Food Network said in a statement. "She's a passionate and talented cook, whose down-to-earth style, winning recipes, and southern hospitality will charm and inspire viewers."
The cooking show will be shot in Nashville, Tenn. and features theme episodes, including planning a baby shower with Yearwood's favorite childhood dishes and hosting a Southern family reunion barbecue.
Yearwood has won three Grammy Awards and released two cookbooks, "Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen" in 2008 and "Cooking for Family and Friends" in 2010. Both cookbooks reached the No. 1 position on the New York Times best-seller list. The singer has also contributed recipes to the Food Network website from her cookbooks, including her recipes for Jalapeno Hushpuppies and Saucy Catfish.
Yearwood is married to country star Garth Brooks, who will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year, it was announced on March 6.
