Crystal Cathedral congregation to relocate

GARDEN GROVE, Calif.

Senior Pastor Sheila Schuller Coleman said on Sunday the ministry will be renamed Hope Center of Christ.

In a video posted on the Crystal Cathedral's website, Schuller Coleman said the new location will be announced in the next few weeks.

The financially struggling Orange County megachurch sold its iconic glass-paned home to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange last month to emerge from federal bankruptcy protection.

The Rev. Robert Schuller, who founded the church, retired form everyday operations in 2006. On Saturday, Schuller announced he and his wife were stepping down from the Crystal Cathedral board of directors.

Many said that despite the relocation of their place of worship, it will not change the meaning of their services.

"The location has nothing to do, it's the pastor," said worshipper Rosie Maldonado. "He's the one that brings us all together."
