Robert Pattinson's upcoming film "Bel Ami" finally received a much-anticipated United States release date.
Magnolia Pictures announced on March 12 that the film will hit theaters on Friday, June 8, 2012. The film had its world premiere at the recent 62nd Berlin Film Festival.
"Bel Ami" is a retelling of Guy de Maupassant's tale of a young man named Georges Duroy (Pattinson) and his rise to power in 19th century Paris, through any means necessary, including manipulating the city's most influential and wealthy women.
The film also stars Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci as a few of Duroy's lovers.
Ricci said that Pattinson was a "good kisser," during an interview in December 2010. Ricci added, "he's a lovely human being also. He reminded me of my best friends' little brothers growing up. He's just, like, a silly, fun guy. We laughed a lot. He makes fun of himself all the time. He's adorable."
Maupassant originally published the novel in 1885. It was translated into English for the first time in 1903 with the name, "The History of a Scoundrel."
The film was directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod and written by Rachel Bennette.
